Why Norfolk… The Galleries

With so much in Norfolk to be inspired about, it’s no surprise that Norfolk is a goldmine of Art and Photography. There are many galleries, so why not come down for the weekend, copy and paste some galleries into your sat nav and check out the talent. I’ve focused mainly on the coastal galleries in this blog but there are many more around Norfolk.

Cromer:

The Gallery Norfolk, a new gallery on the scene. Featuring many pieces inspired by nature – especially the sea – the gallery is located just moments from the picturesque cobbled Gangway down to Cromer’s beach. Contact details: 01263 515745, 3 Church Street, Cromer,

The Garden House Gallery & Shop. Local artists and makers produce all of the artwork and handmade crafts on display.  Sherringham:

Westcliffe Gallery, Since opening in 1978 The Westcliffe Gallery has offered a new dimension to art lovers in North Norfolk. While selling quality works by artists from the 18th century onwards, it also promotes the talent of new painters. Art Café, Glandford, Holt. This is a great hidden gem nestled in Glaven valley, 2 miles just outside Holt. Open every day 10am-4pm serving lunch between 12am-2.30pm. It is great any time of year, in the winter they have a wood burning stove, in the summer a cosy courtyard. This is well worth a visit! Cake and a gallery, what more could one want. http://www.art-cafe.org

Cley-Next-the-Sea:

Cley 15- Is an exhibition of new work from 52 artists, there are talks, events and workshops. It’s a favorite of mine and I make a point to visit every year. This year its called, Marvellous in Ordinary. Go to www.cleycontemporaryart.org to find out the whole picture. There are four sites this year, St Margerets Church open 10-5.30pm daily, The Crabpot Bookshop open 10am-5pm Mon-Sat, Cley Windmill open daiy 10am-4pm and The Beach between dawn and dusk.

Blakeney:
